My husband found this heartbreaker tonight. Hard to tell if it's double notched (don't think it is though). I'm thinking it may be a turkey tail-Fulton? Measures 2 1/2" x 1". What are your thoughts on what it is?

Looks like you may be right, that is a good find:thumbsup:

Nice call. TT are found in your area. And the material matches.

Dang what a heart breaker. I have always wanted to find a TT. Maybe the next one will be whole.

Yes! Finally got one right! Husband was out with our daughter for an hour and came back with this and a few small pieces of chert. Hope I can get out there in a day or two. With all this heavy rain I should find some run off pieces.

Make sure he shows you the spot he found it in. Probably more

nice find, sometimes more, but usually the finer examples, but i would go look its nice and thin like the cache pieces

That is exactly what it is. We find the harrison type here. She would have been a beauty! Good luck!

Sure looks like a TT heartbreaker. Even had the white on the notched end. Nice find.

Those are often found in caches and also often ceremonially broken before being cached. I'd even go so far as to say that it's 'common' for them to be found in caches or at least multiples. Wherever he found it should be scrutinized season after season.

Nice find.

I'm I the only one that's ever thought about the work involved in reworking a damaged point? They reworked points and resharpened blades to a nub. Then they go and creat beautiful turkey tails, made of the finest lithic, just to break them. I have spent quite a bit of time thinking about how resourceful the natives were on one hand, but on the other so extravagant.

Yup, I believe they treated their resources roughly the same as all other people of world.
