Just about to break open crisp, cold Sam Adams Octoberfest to celebrate!

Started today with 89 silver coins for the year. The goal for
2012 was 100, and got out to a place today where I found a few silvers before.
Was hoping to pull a couple to get closer to the goal. Started off kind of slow
in front of a building (had permission, of course). Got a merc in that area and
not much else. Still got the count up to 90! Then moved to a side field that
looked promising. Started with a couple of wheats, and then a silver Roosie came
up! A few inches over, a merc. Not too bad! Next thing you know, more wheats,
then some more silver dimes. Then all of a sudden the war nickels showed up...
and kept showing up. Hit 100 with a 1944-P war nickel, and just kept on going.
Even two in one hole.

Earlier this year I got 55 wheat cents in one hunt
and never thought that would be challenged again, let alone just a couple months
later. 58 is a one day record. Before today, 10 silver coins was a one-day
record. That just doubled! Never expected a haul like this.

It's safe to say this section has never been hit...until today. Oh yeah, also got two buffalo
nickels - 1913 type 2 and 1929.

HH ALL!!

re: I remember those days when...

Reminds me of the ole days at my Silverado site... at a park I still hit. :laughing7:

The park was supposed to be hunted out as i was told, but that was far from true. Imagine digging silver and Wheat's every two, three, feet, and four and more in a hole. The day you had with 20 silvers has not been around where I hunt now, but I can tell you no lie that at this site, my record was 53 silvers for a day, and averaged between 15 to 43 silver a day for almost three months, and I still dig silver there whenever I drop by for a stroll to spots that I could not get to because of heavy growth, or areas that were clean of bushes and downed trees. 8-)

From then to now, I must have dug almost at least a 1,000 silver coins of all sorts, including war nickels, not to mention Wheat's, silver rings, and relics. So, keep looking and one day, you'll find a Silverado for yourself where you'll dig silver upon silver... WTG. :icon_thumleft:

I think depending on the oldest and newest silver you dug, you'll be able to determine the time line when they were dropped. My guess a concession of some kind might have been at that spot after the war or during the war, or a bunch of kids were just doing what kids do, but do not rule out if it was near a school, kids used to bury their coins to keep from the bullies from getting to them...LOL, so many possibilities, but, the coins will tell their story... HH.
