This was, by far, the best bag of dimes I've ever gotten! It was absolutely unbelievable. I was pulling silver proof, after silver proof, after silver proof out of that bag. It was amazing. In the end, I wound up with half a roll of silver dimes total!!! (To those of you who haven't hunted dimes a bunch please know that this is a fluke. A find like this almost never happens. My best guess is that somebody got into grandpa's collection and threw it into the change machine at the bank. He's not going to be happy when he figures that out!):laughing7:

Here's the final inventory:

1951
1953
1954
1956
1960
1961
1963
1964
2003 SILVER PROOF (3)
2004 SILVER PROOF (12)
2005 SILVER PROOF
2006 SILVER PROOF

(All of the proofs have a cameo finish and look pretty dang flawless.) And yes, this was the only bag they had and just pulled it off the machine. Happy Hunting!!! Pics below…

You need to run back to the bank and beg, plead, and cry to get the other bags. Have some extra coin to fill the bags if you need to. A box of donuts will help. Don't leave without the bags.

Sweet cull of silver.

Awsome score! You're right, not the norm, but very nice! I too would be curious as to what else got dumped. Good luck, keep us posted. HH, Maverick.

Having never found a proof dime I am envious. But also very happy for you. Thanks for sharing, a la the pics. That's some seriously nice looking silver porn.

Good plan. The silver quarters and halves from those opened proof sets might just be sitting there in that machine waiting for you to rescue them.

Well, I went back to the bank first thing this morning (the minute they opened) and thanks to the fresh box of bakery cookies I brought with me, got the bag of quarters that was taken off of the machine at the same time as the bag of dimes mentioned in this post. And, well...skunk city! Not a worthwhile thing in there. I think the dimes were the only real score there that day because the machine is rigged so it will no longer accept half dollars and they wouldn't sell me the nickel bag yet because it only had about $60 in it with no other bags pulled. I guess the dimes were it. Oh well, gotta keep hunting. :-)

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Go and get some nickels and cents to top off the bags so you search those. Perhaps some nice Buffs, V's and Wheaties are waiting for you.
