Two cool finds from last night

Found a case shot ball last night, knew immediately it was measurably bigger than a Confederate round ball and also found a .44 cal fully intact pin fire revolver cartridge. It's funny because Friday night one of the members of our metal detecting club( might have been JPro) had a neat display of these type cartridges. Often these were from pistols carried by officers or calvary.

Looks good Nancy. Glad to see you & Steve last week. The pin fires are generally measured in mm. They are fun to find and either have a brass or copper cartridge. HH, Q.

Thanks all. My husband also found an intact one the day before yesterday in even better condition than mine.. It makes me wonder what conditions they were in to be found still intact like that because often moisture makes the cartridge dissipate and all that is left is the bottom with the pin on it.
