Hi there fellow treasure hunters. On to the next couple of pits that were close to the last ones we did. Nice day outside in the 60s and partly sunny. So off we went on another adventure as Bilbo would say. First pit was pretty shallow with only a couple bottles here and there. Fairly old too with some finds from the late 1880s early 90s. A Hoods sarsaparilla was found as well as a really cool stone ink with a cool top. Not much here but we had another pit right next to it.
Off to dig that one and it started out with ABM stuff. Ugh. But we were hopeful it would turn the corner into the 1800s. Got down to the bottom and started to find a couple tooled meds which gave us hope. Don was about to call it quits when he decided to dig right below his feet and towards the roots of a tree. Out pops a large champagne with a huge kick up. Then right beside that a Hostetters Stomach Bitters. Clearly an older spot as we thought they dug an ABM pit right over or close to the 1870-80 pit.
So I told him to keep on going and low and behold he pulls out another Hostetters. A twofer!!!! Sweet. Ended with an ink, some Caldwells and other small things. Not a huge day for sure but it was nice to see some Bitters see the light of day again. And wouldn’t ya know it another pit awaits right next to this one for the next adventure. Until then, stay safe out there everyone. And may all your pits be six feet apart from each other! Lol. Jgas.
