Two Hammered. Updated..Henry11.

Got back on a field we lost 18 months ago this was due to a badly organized Sunday dig that wasn't supervised, it is also the field were I found the Farmers Wedding ring he lost 18years ago

Anyway we though we would ask again, and he said OK we have had a few Hammered of here before, infact Michael had 9 in one day, mostly cut half's and quarters. Second dig into the field and I had my first Hammered...a cut half short x but it took awhile for the second, a bent short x this time a full one, which looked like it had some nice detail

Michael suffered today not getting a Hammered, these were the only two to show, but the stubble was quite hard and we will be back when it's ploughed

I'v included a nice shot of a half Groat I found at the weekend which I never got around to posting

You get, I gridded a 10 acre field for just 1 of those (I suppose the Henry II makes up for it) but I still haven't had a good full x-cross for ages :P

It's a Medieval turd from someone who had obviously eaten a Smurf.

Dave that's part of a Roman Brooch, the Blue is what remains from the enamaling

Most of the Hammered of that field Cru....have been short cross, I have had 2 full ones, both bent

LMAO....Glad to see you guys are plagued with them every once in awhile as well ! Awesome Short X Hammereds Colin!!! That one bent in half looks to be in really good shape, for that matter, so is the half. The Groat is a beauty to behold as well. Congrats my friend!!!
