I found both of these items today. The first one is made of brass and has a hole were it might have been attached to something with a screw. The pointed piece pivots on a pin and there is a stop on the back. There are four knobs on the back. The space between these knobs is rounded like it may have been attached to a pole. Can anyone tell me what this item is The last two pictures are of a brass item. Ive found quite a few of these but dont know what they are. I was thinking maybe it sat on top of a lantern adjuster wick assembly. Or just some type of cover. Can anyone ID either one of these items?
I want to say that the first piece is the part of an old surveyor's transit on which the plumb bob was hung. The second item looks like the escutcheon of a drop-type drawer pull.
Item 1 may be part of a vinaigrette fob. It would have held a small sponge soaked in perfume and worn an a chain or bracelet. Popular through most of the 19th C.
