I don't have a test kit for gold. So I am not certain it is 12k, but, it is stamped, and it is worn down to almost smooth, I can see the 1 and the k, and it REALLY looks like it is a 2. There is 12k, but I don't usually see it either, a lot like 9k.
here are some pics. They may both be 10k, but in person, the one ring really doesn't look like it was a 0, definitely not a 4. Oh-well, It's still gold. I will find out one day. Thanks for all the great comments. I will put some pics up of the hip-mount tomorrow.
DrJoeFind.....as far as your dad goes (age of 91). He is probably more than entitled to be an a@#. It is kind of weird to see 12k,9k and anything over 18k. I have found a ring stamped 91.6, which is 22k.
Great finds Chris. Man I look forward to my next trip to your neck of the woods. I only made it to RP once on my last trip and only found clad. I imagine the beaches are pretty crowded this time of year.

Come on dude! You are one of like 4 people that I have met here that actually keep in touch and re-visit the island every couple of years. Last friend from Alabama (old timer) came here last trip and pulled 7 gold rings and a chain and I pulled 5 gold rings that week. So there is always gold here, and should be enough to help pay for the trip if you spend your time in the water. Stay in touch and let me know when you're headed this way.
