Found these two in the same place as other Civ stuff, such as a Union spur and a NY officer cuff button. Some detector enthusiast friends of mine think the one is a Malcolm sight, as I thought it was a rifle's ladder sight. There are a couple of faint lines on it. The other has baffled all of us. I thought it was a sight too, with the number 200 indicating the yards it was sighted for. It doesn't look modern, since there are hallmarks on it. Need some input here. Thanks for looking!

Looks to me like your right on both accounts. Not sure about the range (200). The slotted ones look like they belong at the end of the barrel. The oblong one is definitely a long range calibrated bracket. Originally there would have been a slider you could move up or down depending on the distance. You can scroll though these to see many similar to what you found... https://www.google.com/search?q=OPE...tbm=isch&q=OPEN+IRON+SIGHTS+FROM+antique+guns

Thanks, Itsmine. I'm really curious if there's a site I can visit to identify the hallmarks. I'd also like to find out if it was specific to a certain rifle. I found officer's items at the dig site, but I don't think officers carried rifles instead of sidearms. Plus, if the ladder sight is really a Malcolm sight, I'm thinking it was an overnight campsite. Unfortunetly, I have yet to find a bullet. Hopefully that's next.

the other Item looks too heavy to me , to be part of any gun.
looks more like a Finial for something but either way,
I'm thinking Wrong. It has no holes for Connecting to anything

A pump organ reed holder! That's hilarious! That's why I come here, you guys know your stuff. What the hell is that doing out in the middle of field? Weird.

There was a one-room schoolhouse a quarter mile away, still stands today. Homes out there are few and far in between. I'm heading out there again, right now.

I saw that too. The other mark is an "A" in an oval.

That could Help I.D. it.

Perhaps with a Few More, Used to stand a Pain of glass in a Factory or back of a Truck.

Could the 200 Be a Weight limit ?

My immediate thought on the first pic: Fuse holder (possibly 200 amps?).
Similar to this:

I recall seeing lots of strange little lettering symbols on both new and old electrical switchgear.

A fuse holder has to be springy enough to stretch open to accept the fuse then snap back around it. The photo looks like it made of cast brass.

I was thinking Brass also

The fuse holder idea seems right on but it does appear to be brass and if so would brass have been used to close off a current?

I have seen high-voltage electric disconnects made out of shovel parts.
Well, the business end of a hand shovel anyway.

You just can't make this stuff up. So yeah, I wouldn't put it past someone to use the unknown widget as a lug for a switch or fuseholder.
Of course, it's probably something entirely different -- which will eventually become obvious to all of us here. :)

Might it say 20 C instead of 200? ...not that it helps me think of what it is.
