Hi everybody , I started out heading to my new spot from last week but no one was home , so I decided I would do some door knocking off the beaten path on a area I have researched heavily ! After miles of road and a actual ford crossing I hit the first house in mind built in 1802 and no answer, second stop another 1802 house and got a answer , so the owner informed me about the history of the house , built in 1802 it was built by his grand father , during the civil war the house was taken for debt and sold ,and in 1944 his wife's family purchased the property and house . So while we were talking he kept mentioning down at the farm people have found civil war buckles and bullets and buttons I didn't really pay attention to much to it as I had no clue what he was talking about till I went to leave and I decided to inquire about the farm ,glad I did its a 350 acre farm I had researched which has two Indian villages a 1800's house and had plenty of C.W action so I got permission for place as well for when I finish at this property! So I broke out the XLT and started swinging , not a lot of junk but lots of iron which I am beginning to like iron as most people don't mess with area's like that and after about 45 minutes bammm scored a beautiful 1798 draped bust and then awhile later I scored two buttons one was a pewter bell button and then this odd brass item ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS IS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO LET ME KNOW I AM CURIOUS .While I was detecting the owner asked if i had found anything and I said yes and told him about the coin and told him it was on my tailgate , so not watching him ,he picked it up wiped it off and almost completely ruined the coin errrrrrrrrrr it had a nice patina on it but it doesn't anymore ! So I ended up spending the last few hours of the day hunting for a lost clevis for the farmer but he told me the wrong place so next time I will try to find it again .. Thanks for looking ! Oh and thanks everybody for the banner votes on the slave shackle, I had posted a new pic of the shackle cleaned up on the post I was surprised it didn't make it up top such a historic part of history !
