Finally got permission to hunt a 1770's farmhouse here in NJ. My freind and I were talking about one of us getting spanish silver or the elusive 18th century U.S. silver coin on the drive there. After about 2 hours the only good find of the day for me revealed itself after spending a long time in the dirt. When i saw the disk I thought spanish silver, it was to large for a dime. Then I saw the ribbon above the eagle and knew what it was, Then I saw the early date 1827. Very happy. This early dime is a bit larger than the standard size we see in seated and barbers, this threw me off at first. A little water from the hose at the farmhouse was all I used to clean her, she is so pretty. Condition is real nice, maybe XF.
Thanks for looking.
