UGH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!

Oh, me too. I love hunting in the woods in early spring, but once it hits 70 degrees, I'm done cause I can't deal with ticks.

I would gladly embrace ticks right now if that meant the snow finally melted and the ground thawed!

The best thing to wear is splash pants or wind breakers (something slippery) with no pockets and tucked into your socks.

You'd think I would remember this every time I go out wearing camo or cargo pants with a million pockets. Doh!

I still rather deal with ticks than mosquitoes. The way we get them!

Come on spring!

Yes, seven inches of snow yesterday, so I am waiting for spring as well. Theoretically in six weeks I should be done with spring land hunting and on to water hunting for the rest of the summer. This year I'm not sure the snow will even be melted let alone the water warm enough to hunt.

Of all God's creatures, ticks should be extinct;D My neighbors lab, and 2 cousins have both contracted lyme disease in the past year!

You can wear 2 pairs of socks on each foot and put a little 7-dust around your ankles, ortry some Deet or Avon skin-so-soft,avon also works for misquitos. You can also make a great Tick repellent by crushing B-1 tablets in a bowel with some water,to make a paste, spread it around your ankles and it should keep all those little critters away.

Ok, I have to ask...are ticks found across the country or only in the central and northern states? I've lived my entire life in the south, Louisiana, and have spent plenty of time outdoors hunting, fishing, whatever. I have never seen, nor found one tick on me. Maybe ticks don't like hot, humid summers? Well, mosquitoes sure do! Maybe mosquitoes are Louisiana's version of ticks. Ha!

Come on over to Texas. We have more than enough to share with you...

fleas and ticks have been bad in my area the past few years. not sure why but there are definitely more than past years.

Went detecting today. Came home and felt something crawling in my head. It was a tick! I hate the little turds! I pulled it out of my hair and set it on fire!

In OKla. we have ticks as well as chiggers and seem to have more than we need. This time of year I start eating salads with white vinegar, instead of ranch dressing. I also 'dust' my clothing with sub-limed sulfur powder before getting dressed. This seems to keep them from chewing on me. Nasty little SOB's anyways!!! hate 'em. Just my 2 zents. HH yelnif...

i tell ya , only went for a should looking walk , by the time i got home , the end count was 12 unreal !

It's only been the last 10 or so years that ticks have moved into the Northeast. A biologist friend was the first I knew here to contact lyme disease, that was 20 years ago. A few mild winters exploded the populations, we need cold weather to ill them off. Oh well, it's a toss up, I like the milder winters !

They've been in Minnesota for at least sixty years. At least the big one have been. I'm not sure about deer ticks, but we sure have them now. And of course, we have Mosquitos that are huge and hungry.

My wife and I always keep a roll of clear packaging tape to lift them off ourselves and fold over to encapsulate them

i grew up in florida , lived last 25 years in Tennessee and worked all over the USA , and have heard of or seen them every where,,lol.

as for tic proof ? not sure if there is such a thing , without poisoning your self with something, but what we did when we went fishing as kids up to a few years ago was the cheap dog flea collars from heartz , 1 around each ankle. then 2 years ago i had a friend tell me to use dryer sheets in my socks, cant say they work for sure but havnt had a tic so far since i started using them.

Originally or historically Ticks were a large species known as Politicians and they've just developed into the most efficient type that we just call Ticks as they are no longer hiding their real intent.

The dryer sheets are an interesting thought, have to test that out. The Silicone or the fragrance might cause them to dry up. I've not had one on me in a long time, hope it stays that way. And yes, I am sick.................sickty3bkpkr

Well the Doctors have me on so much medicine that when a tick bites me it pulls out and walks around in circles acting drunk.
My plan…. Hunt woods & fields until they come out then its off to the beach until their gone!

No I didn't want to see this thread=( They were so bad here the last couple of years. And the FREAK ME OUT!!!! This weekend I am potentially going to a spot next to an old CCC camp and it is all weeds probably waist high, and I am like please no ticks!!!!
Have heard the thing about dryer sheets for mosquitos but no clue on ticks. Generally I spray that Deep Woods Off all over my pants and shoes and lightly on my back. Then tuck my hair up into a cap and off I go. As soon as I get home everything goes into the wash and I run to the bathroom and brush my hair out then lunge into the shower.
Had one crawling in my hair last year, but they were using my poor dog like a taxi service so if I recall that was where that thing came form =/ ::shudders::
