Hello All I hope everyone is doing well. This is the most damaged Morgan anyone could find, but at least I found one. It is my first. The reason I am submitting it is because the back side has been milled and I can't find anything that could explain this milling as being authentic to the coin. For example a bullion coin or a commemorative coin. Also it seems that someone milled this coin after it was in a fire. I believe the date to be 1882/3. there was a big fire in this town in 1884. ODD coin. Morgan dollar front.webpMorgan dollar reverse.webp Thanks for checking out this ugly coin

Looks like it was milled to hold a penny or jewel like some of the old tokens?

No haven't tested it for silver, but it shows up a 34 on my NOX 800 and a 91 on brothers ATMAX. It is reeded and has some details of a morgan that I can make out especially on the milled side.

The milled portion is smaller than a dime, so I would suspect a Jewel.

That coin has lived a hard life! But, silver is silver.

I put a "like" on this post just because I'm amazed you can even tell it's a Morgan! :)

I agree with Rebel. That poor baby has lived a horrible life up until now.
(...and now its likely to get melted?)
