NEXT PRIMETIME AIRING Sunday April 18th 9PM

Lost Gold of the Dark Ages chronicles the amazing story of how an amateur metal-detecting enthusiast discovered a gold hoard of more than 1,500 artifacts dating back a millennium, and valued at over $5 million. The importance of the discovery is comparable to finding Tut's treasure. To solve the mystery of where the gold came from, to whom it belonged and why it was buried, historians take us on a journey back into the Dark Ages.

I am watching this now....what an amazing documentary...and they give PLENTY of props and airtime to the detectorist who found the hoard. No MD'er should miss this!

I always find these things out a day too late...

Hopefully they will re-air it.

Bummer.... I guess the Nat Geo channel isn't included in my current free cable tv package :icon_pirat:

I'll have to find it online somewhere.

Thanks anyway!

Watching it again because it's on, so why not...and I think it's so great that the detectorist and land owner were automatically given the value of the hoard and agreed to split it 50/50. If only it were that easy in the states.

I guess nobody noticed but me! The metaldetector used to find this treasure was a Whites XLT, the late rainbow version with the stock, single loop coil, just like the one I use. I guess you really don't need that DD coil after all!

Finaly got to see the program. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!

White's actually sent out announcement regarding the broadcast, stating it was an Eagle XLT.
