Unbelievable! Has anything like this happened to you?

My wife was talking to a couple at church about our recent MD finds, that turned into a conversation about how I collect coins. They then informed her how they had just gotten rid of a bunch of REALLY OLD SILVER COINS at scrap prices and how pleased they were to get $600 for them. I felt like someone just punched me in the gut. My mind keeps calculating the endless combination of silvers coins that would equal roughly $600 in scrap value. I would love to hear your stories, maybe it will make me feel better about my near miss.

Don't feel too bad Baron. If they had been into numismatics they would have saved the rare dates. It was probably just
saved silver coins with no Proofs/AU/Key Dates. But if a few were valuable I guarantee they will never hit the melt pot.
