Was on my way to meet up with some pals for some detecting this morning and stopped into my local convenience store for the first time since I have been back in town. The cashier saw me come in and said "You are going to be happy" and proceeded to hand me 7 silver washingtons, a silver rosie, and saving the best for last, hands me a 1909 Barber quarter :hello2: I always offer to pay more but they always say no and just want face value.

Got any tips for us mere mortals?

saweeet! thats a good hookup right there. did thye barber come out of an old roll or did someone give it as payment?

Very cool score, Congrats!

Good luck,
HH.

Hey Griff, the cashier told me that another cashier had thrown it into a cigar box that they use for Canadian money. It was obviously in safe keeping prior to that,no way had that been floating around in circulation too long.

The easy way is the best way!

Nice, nothing better than finding silver at face value! It's a good thing that many people also mistake old US coins as foreign, such as that old Barber. ffd
