We decided to detect under a recently removed haystack at the Roman Metal Working Site. The ground was too hard for Cru'dad, so he Recorded as I detected.
It took me 2 hours to grid the area, including a newly dug pipeline trench & a small scrape near the farm buildings.
1 Scrappy, 1 broken Celtic Bronze Unit, & a mystery Roman Pendant like object.

We then moved to the Copse Field (Small bird cover area that we had already done) where I gridded for just 1 hour & picked up some Roman Pot Shards, 1 Coin, Broken 1st C AD Brooch & 2 Hob Nails.

First thought is a fancy plumb weight. These are modern.

Good thought but I'm sure by the design of the eyelet that it slotted into a larger metal object, so might be some kind of swinging ornament of a larger item.....

Now that you say that, it reminds me of a musical instrument thumb knob for tuning.
