Unidentifiable Black Spherical Rock

It feels much heavier in the hand than an ordinary earth rock.The circumference of the rock is 64.4cm (Approx) and the weight is 9.876 kgs (21.772853 pounds)
Not particular sure what it is but i was hoping you can shed some light.

Does a magnet stick to it?

It doesn't seem to attract to refrigerator's magnet and it's too spherical to be a meteorite as well. Tried finding a kind of similar to this rock in the Internet but doesn't seem to find any. The weight of this certainly perplexed my thoughts. And i haven't seen this kind of Rock anywhere else.

Tried to break a portion of it with a hammer but to no success. A research was done on this about 12 years ago but they can't certainly say what it is. The marks on the top of it was because of the chemicals that was used to test the rock.

Take the stone to a large animal vet (horse vet) and ask fir an ID...

Looks like a stomach stone.

They are formed by ground fed animals and may be related to alfalfa hay.

Common to California and SW states...I've seen display cases filled with intestinal stones ranging from small stones to football size. An agricultural University such as Cal-Poly could examine the stone and give an immediate ID.

The stone is made of thin layers of several chemicals common in some forms of hay and soil.



Eventually a semi-football shaped stone is formed that blocks the intestines causing colic, which can cause death.
