Detector(s) used
Teknetics T2 SE, Garrett Pro-Pointer
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I had planned a 5-day road trip to drive around and stop and detect whenever the mood struck. About a week before leaving, though, my van was broken into and they stole my detector, a Teknetics T2SE. So big BIG thanks to WV1978, who saved the day by loaning me his spare detector, a very nice Teknetics G2, so I could still go detecting.

First day out was my best day. I was not far from Fredericksburg, VA. I found an almost-complete eagle breast plate (my second -- I found another one years ago). A few minutes later I dug up my first-ever 2-cent piece. It's pretty toasty but I think I can make out a date of 1869.

Then there were a few other finds that I also posted on What Is It?. The button, which looks like it may have been silver-plated, and which has old-looking marks on the back with a crown and wreath. No lettering that I can make out.

There's the little horseshoe-shaped thing, which is bronze, maybe, and a flat lead piece which appears to have a figure on it in relief. No idea what any of these are.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks. One of those things. Detector cost $900, insurance deductible is $1000. So it goes.

Nice variety of finds.

Nice finds. Looks like your 2 cent is almost as toasty as mine. Still looks good in the display though. Great finds and great of wv1978 to lend you the detector! He gave me an awesome finds pouch that I use today. He coulda sold it for 20-40 bucks on eBay. Good people on tnet.
Thieves are lame he should be de-handed. I hope he digs up a live wire with the stolen detector. If you have the receipt or serial number you might check with the pawn shops in the area and craigslist.

Sorry about you getting ripped off. People suck.

Congrats on all of the nice finds. Well done sir.

Great eagle plate, the last person to hold that before you was likely fighting for his life in the war!
