Well I think it's a button, and it's definitely unique ! And as a rookie detector, I'm open to suggestions.

hmmmm I want to say cameo and not button, but could be a 2 piece button missing the back. Maybe someone will know for sure.

I see what appears to be a photograph of a woman

Well someday,I'm going back there, lol...maybe I will find more haunted pieces...lol...

that is so cool! i would say locket, except that the concave part is on the wrong side. whatever it is- it is a unique find!

You know locket crossed my mind too. What surprised me was the detailed image... and now I wonder if it is a locket with a real picture of a person, and the imagine has just faded over time onto the base. I originally did think real pic when I first seen it. It's a much cooler find if it is a real person.

I may never know...but the imagery is Fantastic !

In a way it reminds me of the Photo ID badges I found from a WWI munitions plant site. They were faded pretty bad, but also had a celluloid (think that is what it is called) cover over the photo, so if it is a photo, it is probably WWI or earlier, if not a photo, than no idea.....

You might be able to research the family and track down an image of who lived their. Would take some effort, but that's what Winter is for!
