Unknown deteriorated coin

Found this coin today at a late 1700s house

Very badly corroded but can barely make out some letters around the edge

It is larger than a quarter

Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you have a camera, shoot it in macro about 12 inches away. We can zoom in on it then. Pretty fuzzy now. Put a quarter next to it for scale too:icon_thumright:

Looks like the reverse of an early 1800's large cent. What does the other side look like?

After closer inspection I have noticed the stars and very vague silhouette of a face ... Still can not see a year

Any way to clean this up ?

Matron Head large cent produced 1816-1835. yours may be toasted too much to get a date
