Unknown disc

Since you all are so good a ID-ing things, skywatcher asked if I would post this disc he found at an old home site in a old German immigrant settlement in SE MO. The metal is unknown- a silvery gray. The incised marks appears to have been hand-made as they aren't perfectly uniform. It is about 1" in diameter and has nothing on the back (it is concave). If it is a button, the shank has come off. Open to any ideas ;D and thanks in advance-

looks like it could be hand made thats cool makes you wonder about who made it.

looks like a civilian ornate rosette.Is the back lead filled? If so thats what you have.BUt I would like to see the back side also.Thanks.
