Unknown rock I found

I found this rock in the foothills of the Appalachian Mtns in NC. I went to a freshwater spring that I knew about on my grandfathers land and stuck my hand in the hole and felt an oddly smooth textured rock. This rock was wedged tightly in the spring as if someone placed it there. I think it is a form of quartz or macrocrystalline. It is very translucent as I showed in the pics. This rock is fairly heavy, maybe 3 lbs. and as I showed in pics 4 & 5, you can see a side that is very flat and smooth. Can anyone help me figure out how to id this rock? I would love to hear your opinions and thanks for looking!

azeztulite? or quartz

I think when I look through it at the right angle I can see a rainbow in it. I don't think I can get it on a camera pic on it though. What type of quartz would be this translucent? I don't even know if it is native to the area I found it at.

not sure on the name of quartz there has been quartz found the size of car engines just as translucent as yours in NC.

I done some reseach and found that some quartz was pronounced a diamond by jewelers in danbury, nc. That is like 45 min from where it live. I think this reference is interesting.

Oh boy! Azeztulite..
Just a "trade name" by the metaphysical crowd for white quartz, LOL!

It's just plain old quartz. It has no special name what you got there.
Quartz can be translucent or transparent.
I haven't yet come across a opaque quartz.

Thank you, that is very helpful! I had an idea, but I didn't know if there any other names it could be called, b/c I don't have azeztulite listed in my field guide.

I'd be surprised, or rather disappointed if azeztulite was mentioned in any serious field guide or rock/gem related book.
So far its just a scam to sell low quality quartz for more then its worth.

To reference certain minerals there are several good links. These I found helpful when I started:

Especially the latter describes things in an easy to understand way.
And, yeah there are more good links, I just took those whom I used mostly as a beginner.

Them are good links, I like the reference. I searched and found azeztulite is a fake mineral, which is really abundant in NC too. Has no value really.

Looks like quartz. It would make a good sphere! I'd buy it off ya...

Hmmm.....probably can make some nice quartz arrowheads too if I knew someone who is a knapper. I think it is a beautiful material! This stone probably weighs around 3 lbs. I would sell it definitely and ship it for a good price, if you're truly interested.
