I was metal detecting my nabors 1860s home that i numerous times detected and found this small weird spoon thats in pic, and its beside a puter spoon, the small spoon is made of copper gessing, if anyone can help me figure what kind of spoon i appreciate it and possibly date it thanks

I don't know what that is but it doesn't look like any spoon I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot of spoons.

Would one of the crenellations be a type of hinge? Maybe it's half of a spoon used to hold tea leaves while they steeped in a cup?

It's not a spoon for several reasons. Please show me an example of a spoon with a ball foot for starters.

Is it possible that used to be some type of crotal bell?

I had that thought but couldn't make it work in my head. also I think material is too thin.

Yes, another reason it isn't a spoon. I cropped and edited the photos a little. The originals do blow up real nice already though, if you have a large computer screen.
