Looking for help to identify a coin/token I found with my Safari today about 12 inches deep at an old mill site. The item has N & R across the top with PON PON on the bottom. It appears to be thinly stamped copper with gold flake remnants on the top and bottom. Thanks for the help

I wasn't able to track down Neyle & Rivers yet. I did find a "Neyle & Roper" in the 1840s in Charleston that I think were merchants located on the Commercial Wharf. There are newspaper references to a number of ships delivering their cargo to them. One of the ships that comes up was called the "Pon Pon" but I really don't know that this token is related to that.
My first thought was that it was a farm or plantation workers script token --- maybe for bushels picked or something similar ..? But I haven't been able to place it yet.
I'll keep looking for more info. Or maybe someone else here will have more to add.
