I dug those all the time in Germany , these are coins.

It's a pre-war German 50 pfennig coin. A pfennig was worth 1/100 of a Duetsch mark, or one German cent. One can plainly read "REICHS PFENNIG" which means ""EMPIRE PFENNIG" meaning the German Third Reich. From the pitting corrosion which is present, it looks like your 50 pfennig coin may have been struck from aluminum, my friend. You can view similiar coins here:
