Hi all, Been raining alot over past few weeks so i haven,t had of much chance to get out. Went to the bosses old house and he let me have a look in his 2 room hand dug cellar. Not much there but i spotted this small wooden object sitting on the damp-coarse wall . well high and dry helped keep the object in fair condition. Embossed with a local soda company name. After a few minutes i had it ided as a Hirman Codd bottle opener. Hirman Codd invented soda bottle with a marble in them. Later a wooden opener was invented. Many codd bottles were broken at the neck by children to get the glass marble out of them. Rare and even common codd bottles are hard to find. But too find a wooden 100 year old opener is just quite a find by my standards. With a local soda company name on it as well is just icing on the cake. Not all treasure is gold and silver

I love those old bottle openers. :o But, I bet this one was used down in the cellar for opening something more refreshing than soda pop! :D
