Hi all finally yesterday spring has come and the rain seems to have passed for the moment. Still quite cool. Mate and i headed to a spot we have not tried before. So i don,t much about this area. Like most of gullies around here gold mined for about 130 years. Gold was discovered in Eaglehawk in 1851 but in Sailors Gully not quite sure ?? Usual panning and first rush diggings along the creek but too much undergrowth to hunt. very junky too, so moved about half way back up the hill to the deep hard rock mines. After about an hour i had picked up 2 small pieces of quartz with some colour and a 180? english penny . happy to get out for a few hours but the sun went down quickly and ran out of light. Will be back later in spring but i will be heading out to the forrest to finish a couple of sites.

Excellent post Tinpan :icon_thumleft:
as always, I am learning from you.
Though you just tease us with excellent pics, without describing them enough
What's the first pic of, after the coin? Is that a deep hole, mine opening?
Cheers Mate, Mike

Nice post! Do you ever get down into those old mine holes? I have entered a few but not very deep as I was alone. It is solid granit rock around the gold area close to me and I have never found any wild natural gold. I have gone deep into a few medieval cellars and a few that were partially collapsed, I don't do that shit anymore, LOL. HH and congrats on the gold, Mike
