Unusual Piece ... Thanks For The ID!

Found this in a field where an old house used to stand. The house probably dated from 1920 - 1970 before being torn down. The piece appears to be a clear marble shaped object or domed lens embedded in a small metal frame. There is writing on the bottom of the piece that reads "Signal" with a number below it ( either 8 or 3 perhaps). Maybe part of an old flashlight Any thoughts on this piece would be appreciated.

or an old highway road sign the had the glass reflectors?

is the underside solid?

I agree with Dozer Dan. Possibly a turn signal or other indicator light from a farm implement.

The faded paint along the rim is screaming John Deere or Oliver Corporation.

Dozer was the first to suggest sign reflector.

It looks like a jewel indicator light but the back is solid.
