Some sort of natural occurrence? Though I don't know but nature sometimes does some funky and interesting things.

Hello,

Can any help me identify what this is?

I found it up on a high top in Junction, TX.
Thanks for the input from everyone! The way the smaller rock was very smooth and than the top of the larger stone sloped down with a smooth surface. It was found about 100 yards from where I found a small Indian sitting area with rock campfire. I will post pictures in a new thread with a fossilized animal bone of some sort.

Its what is called a rip-up clast caused by turbulent/erosive current flow over clays or mud. The currents literally rip up or pluck coherent pieces of the sea bed and transport them down-slope. Very common at the base of turbidites.
Thanks Rush! That is very informative. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me!

Basically it’s a rock within a rock. A friend gave me this one years ago. The larger outer one completely hid the inner one until it got broken. I’m not sure what the round one is but the outer I believe is columnar basalt.
