First of all hello everyone

Need a little help if this is the right place to ask.
I have a platw that has been with me for a very long time, was with my mother for a long time before me
Just need a little help in identifying manufacture mark, I've looked at the shield or beehive marks and it doesn't look the same.
Any help greatly appreciated

I don’t know the maker, but I believe that’s a fake Vienna Porcelain Manufactory “beehive” mark. In fact their mark was actually a “bindenschild”, which was a representation of the imperial family’s coat of arms that looks a bit like a beehive when viewed upside down and that’s how it became commonly known.

Others using imitations of the mark preyed on the fact that it had come to be referred to as a beehive by putting some text/numbers alongside it or putting a base line ‘underneath’ (as on your mark) to reinforce the ‘upside-down’ perception of a beehive rather than a shield. I can’t tell from your picture if the mark is in blue or black but authentic Vienna marks are always in blue underglaze, apart from some earlier pieces where the mark is red.

Difficult to say from where or when since the many variations on the mark come from all over the place through the ages, including Japan and China producing in pseudo-European styles. Clearly it has some age to it but the cameo portraits look to be a bit of a clumsy afterthought.
