Unusual Silver Artifact Found In 1880's Dump

Hello everyone, I wanted to post this seemingly solid silver object that I found while screening in an 1880's dump. I believe it is silver with no hallmarks of any kind that I can see. It was in two pieces when found, so for now it is being held together with a small piece of clear gorilla tape. I would love to know what purpose it served:occasion14:

Looks like an old clarinet key

Quite possible. I know they have sterling silver flute keys. Here is a pic of those.

Wow, that is very similar!! I would have never guessed that anything like that would be made of silver. Possible solved??:dontknow:

I would agree with it being a key off of a woodwind instrument anyway. You can see the part in the middle with the small hole which would’ve been the pivot. Pressing one end would either open or close a hole on the body of the instrument. And MANY higher end models were made of SOME degree of silver, mostly the “pro” or “musician” models. I’m not saying for sure that’s what it is, but this one time in band class...

I’ve had sterling silver flutes before. The key looks like a larger wind instrument. Possibly a Sax.

I have a large wind instrument but it does not have any keys just a basic underwear filter.:censored:
