An early type of factory form? I've seen stuff like this some where in the north east. Before they used metal forming.
I think it was off of some type of assembly line machinery. Making cloth or thread, etc. I'm going to have to defrag my mental harddrive. :-\ I also would lean in the direction of digemall's statement.

I have something by the same maker in my collection.  By the way, mine just says "A Goodwin Ashfield"  and if I remember correctly this was the name of the maker, although you would want to think it was "A. Goodwin- Ashfield, MS" by the way it's written on your item. 

Anyway, my item is a civil war era ankle splint. 

I believe that your's in probably a Size #3 wrist splint that is missing the "hand" board.

Maybe this will kick you off in the right direction!

Thanks DigEmAll ,diggemup ,dg39 ,and jasonbo . I found some more pieces this morning before I went to work . I will try to post them tomorrow night . Anyway here's a few pics of the place I've been serching , it's pretty much right in our back yard !

Cool find. I cannot believe that people just allow beautiful homes like that go to ruin...that house is beautiful....So sad. Hope you find alot of history there

The top piece looks like the hand board part that attaches to the other pieces at the hinge. The #2 part is a differents size of the same part that you posted to begin with, right? As for the middle thing, I have no idea. Can you get some pic from other angles?
