That is a great find. Good down payment on an upgrade detector.

I don't have any experience with old Spanish silver. But it looks too good and uniform for what I picture the technology of the 1500's to produce. I wonder if this was a jewelers stash that got lost?

Just friendly advice:
Next time update your original post, keeps it all in one place & easier for everyone to follow.
You can amend the title to say 'UPDATED' & either add the update in the first message under the title 'update' or reply at the bottom of your thread. Much better way of keeping all the information together, as this will now get spread out.

Your not tempted to sell it I hope  I would buy it for $500 all day long.

With current Silver prices, 36.16 troy ounces should go for about $683.95 US.

It's at $17.24 per ounce.

That's a great find man.

Hold on to that baby. Silver jumped $0.76/oz today.

Have you taken exact measurements and compared them to known ingot sizes? Could provide a clue to its origin.

Make sure nobody follows you to your "field of dreams" seeing as you posted on a public forum

It would be nice if it had some markings on it. I assume you found it in Florida. Having said that I wonder what time period it was made in? Based on the size and shape I wonder if a metallurgist could tell you a little more about it.

You should turn it into the local police station I have already reported that I lost a 2&1/2 pound brick of silver :laughing9: Seriously though sweet find. There has to be more deeper down you need a giant butterfly coil.

I remember that original post too. Woohoo from a former Florida girl (Tampa). Hope you find many more!!!! But be varwy, varwy, kwuiet!! Shhhhhhhhhhhh!!

obviously if this was aluminum it would be a hell of lot bigger for the weight
this is heavy heavy for its size, some need to learn the properties of base metal then precious metals.

'very interesting, wonder how it was lost.

I think I'd be getting the dozer out for this site....... might be 500 more bars out ther in them thar hills....!

awesome find.. ctyms
