Hope not. We need pics if not.

Remember the lessons of Oak Island and take a leaf blower and some dryer flex pipe to blown good air into the bottom and keep the bad air from building up.

Thats a strange rock spanning the hole, it has a grain. Looks like a log or at a stretch petrified log to me. Am I missing something?

So what happened to this? Any word from Splenda?

I agree with Digumall.....put a chain around the rock, tied to a tree, and a rope or chain around you, tied to a tree.
If there is a false bottom built up, you might get the ladder on it, and no give; get your body on it and no give......for a couple of minutes. But, you begin to dig and disturb the bottom, and weaken it, and it is liable to give way.
Do all that is necessary to keep yourself absolutely 100% safe, so you can live to tell us about what you found.

It's been close to a month since X-splenda has posted, lets hope he's ok. Splenda don't keep us hanging here. How about an update.

As this well is reasonably clear and not filled up, there is probably an even OLDER well in the area. Don't know how you'd find that one though....

He posted in another area on Oct. 14 about a "rare" coin find thought about PMing him to find out if it was from "THE WELL"

Get a chain around that rock and remove it.It looks to be recent and tied by a rope. Ropes do not last long. A good werner ladder will sit well in the bottom and give some protection in case of collapse and give you something to hang tools lights etc off of.
Keep us posted if you find anything.
Good luck

The well in the list is about 10-15 minutes from me. Should I go look for a skeleton & cell phone ..........................................

Srry for the Wait it will happen next week!! I was busy finding 3 coppers and 2 silver reals and about 20 buttons at my new detecting spot

Hey XS! Glad to hear from ya, and looking forward to the well results. Just be careful, I don't want to find YOU on best of craigslist like that guy!!

Cool. Can't wait to see what you find. I know of a very similar well near me. Makes me wonder. Might need to be pumped now. It is in Ft. Worth if anyone want to go for a plunge...
