Update to the original "I'm Conflicted" Thread. It's Done!
Well, it's been a long but very productive day thanks to all who contributed to my original post regarding my conflicted state on the type of MD'er I should get...which then expanded into a productive discussion and recommendation on scoops! I owe all you contributors a respectful salute of sincere appreciation as I pulled the trigger this very day and started outfitting myself.
Below is my After Action Report:
I drove the 10 miles from my house to Kellyco about mid day and spoke to Steve Carr. I immediately zeroed in on the Minelab Safari and he took me through all the capabilities, operation and packages that came with the unit. I selected the Option 2 package but much to my delight and surprise, Kellyco was running a special wherein they threw in a Minelab Pro Find pin pointer at no additional cost. The Option 2 package of goodies came with a ton of useful "stuff" for an astounding cost of $11 over the cost of the Safari! If you are not familiar with these packages at Kellyco, you can check out all the goodies at: Minelab Safari Metal Detector For Sale - Kellyco Metal Detectors
Not stopping there, I carefully selected then ordered from two other companies' respective websites two very well built scoops. And once again, thanks to you who contributed to that original post I got one for wet sand and another for dry sand--a factor I would not have thought about on my own until I learned the hard way. The wet sand version is a Sunspot Stealth Beach Scoop...a beast of a tool and the dry sand scoop is the RTG screen model recommended by you folks.
Thanks again to you all, I think I'm about ready to finally retire my old Garrett GTA 1000 I bought in 1995 and move on to bigger and better things with good equipment this time around.
Again, many thanks guys!!! See you on the beach!!!
