I am new to all this, but would love to try some panning, or whatever. My kids and I would love to give it a go, if anyone knows a place. I responded to Bjorn's post, too.

At this point we just have pans and some improvised tools. Would love to get into somewhere where there's at least a chance at a speck or two!

Started looking a panning too

Hey, haven't been panning in a while since I was a member of the Weekend Gold Miners in upper GA many years ago. I've been in SC for about 6 months now. I did a little research and it seems that any chance of gold will be along the slate belt that runs from Howie/Brewer mines in the north end of the state down to Barite Hill mine on the south end. I'm over close to Florence, so that's a little bit of a ride for me. I'll do some more research to see if I can narrow down a few spots that we could try and plan something.

Where abouts are you located?

Thanks, Jack

I'm past the slate belt on the other side, up in Greenville County......
