US Belt Buckle ID Help

Found this today in Alabama. I believe it is a belt buckle. It has US on the front. Is this civil era? It about the size of a silver dollar. Any information is appreciated. Thanks!!

That's a WWI era horse bridle rosette. It is missing its tin back and loop.
