✅ SOLVED US Calvary casing?

To start, I know NOTHING about Civil War era relics other than the basics.

I hit a camp site that was occupied around 1868.

I found this casing and thought it might be of interest because of the US marking. It looks like a .22 casing. Let me guess, Walmart sells .22s with this marking?
