Civil War Case Shot Along an Old Troop Road

Checked out a new area after hearing from some locals that Civil War troops may have used an old road that once ran through the wooded area I was interested in.
It didn’t take long before I started pulling lead. At first, I thought they were musket balls, but they seem to be too uneven in size and shape to all be fired round balls. I’m leaning toward them being case shot balls from an exploding shell or some type of ordnance.
I ended up finding 26 total, along with one iron piece of some sort. All of them were found within a 50 yard radius. Other than that, I didn’t find any other relics. I was hoping to find part of the shell, but no such luck.
Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated. Thanks for looking!

Cannister shot I have found and then cleaned usually has a small rim around them. Throw one in is ACV apple cider vinegar and it will clean up nice.

Yea they look like the ' Few ' Case shot I have dug ( Pre 2021 ) , are they around .69 cal ?
