What a BEAUTIFUL ring!

Thanks 1861 for the help!

Very nice ring, hope you find the owner.

!!! Owner found !!! Wow and what a story.
He came from a Naval family. His father served as a JAG. Several brothers also served.
He was in training to become a pilot, when he was seriously injured in a car accident and spent some time in a coma.
He was able to still serve his country and was in the service for 10 years as a Navy man. It appears that the stress of the accident and lifes struggles caused him to lean on the "bottle". After years of struggle he found himself lost and empty.
Well GOD had him right were HE needed him, at the bottom.
At some point he heard the call to give his life to the Lord and he became a missonary. For those of us who have been down this road , we know what its like. No judgement here!!!
Right now he is serving in the middle east. All I can say is that he is in the midst of it all!!!! Pray for his SAFETY and that God will bring forth the fruit. Looking at the current map of the area where he is serving and you see one glaring fact ISIS.
These evil doers are killing anyone who does not bow to their twisted beliefs men, women , AND CHILDREN!
I feel blessed having been the soul that was able to find this very special ring of a very special man. The ring will soon be back in the hands of its rightful owner.

Awesome find and even better return story!! Nominated for a BANNER!!

I'm having the same challenge trying to return a similar ring. The ring I found is a US Naval Academy ring from the class of 1947. I dug it up out a baseball field in San Francisco.

Wow another one , PM garebel1861 , he was able to give me a hand in locating the owner. The owners name was the inside of the ring.
1947' it's been a long time!! He would be around 79 years old or might not. You might find some of the other family members who would cherish the ring. I too also found mine in a ball field. I guess theres something about those Navy guys and baseball that makes a baseball diamond a good place to lose their rings.
I will be Skyeping the owner of this ring some time tonight, he is in Iraq. I am very excited to be able to meet him and hear more of his story.

Hey Hobojo!! What a find and Congrats on getting it back to it's owner!! My son graduated from the Naval Academy and these men and women really cherish their Rings!! They actually have two, the gold one for dress and a stainless steel ring when they are deployed into harms way!! GOOD LUCK and GOOD HUNTING!! VERDE!!

Great story! Awesome find! Can't wait to see pictures of the reunion! Good job!

You are an attribute to our hobby Hobojo!! :notworthy: Would love to see that "Skype" meeting!
Once again, I think you deserve a Banner for this one!!

So the story goes on, last week we had the privledge of speaking with Rod Mc Devitt for over a hour and a half in his curret location of Duhuk Iraq. He was a very happy guy to hear that the ring he had lost in 1985' had been found. He related some of his life's story and how he chose the Kurdish people to reach out to. He asked me to send the ring to his brother who will then foward it along.
This experiance has taught me alot about perseverance, mostly related to the men and women who serve this great counrty of ours. They give and give and some times give it all. We (I) owe a debt of gratitude to these folks that I will never be able to repay. The ring maybe a bigger symbol of the way things are currently in our nation, burried under the weight of dirt and crap waitng for someone to come along and rediscover her bringing her back to her rightful owners (We The People).
Peace and HH
Here he is , sorry its a bad photo.
