what is blousing strap
sound like a pan if liftloop could understand

Anyone use blousing straps as a way to keep ticks from getting to you through your pant legs? Using sprays just doesn't appeal very much even though I do carry a can in the vehicle. I'm thinking on my next trip to the Army/Navy store I should get a couple pairs.

Lol...No...I can do one better though, wear women's pantyhose underneath your pants and wash your clothing with permethrin. I can guarantee that the ticks would decide that your not the best meal.

Never used my blousing bands but I have worn a tick and flea collar before.

Garlic is your friend.

Blousing, I haven't heard that since my Army days. Blousing and weight rings! lol. I solved this problem long ago. Don't wear long pants, wear shorts. They have to attack in plain sight so you will see and feel them before they take hold. Also solves the heat problem. Frank...

I can't wear shorts, the women wouldn't leave me alone long enough to dig.

Has been awhile, Frankn. The web page I just posted shows a guy doing it before he pulls his pants up, but I was taught to do it AFTER, lol.

Gusset, if you eat enough it is your ONLY friend! I remember an Italian friend in the military that ate garlic tabs as a nutritional supplement....he was into weight lifting, healthy eating, blah blah, lol. When he was sweating, you did NOT want to be in formation with him on a hot day!

See my nickname? What would happen to me if I have a heart attack some day in a park, wearing women's pantyhose?? Would the attending paramedic let me die or give me unnecessary CPR?? Lol. Guess it would depend on the paramedic, ya think?

Best thing I have found is to chew the heads off a couple or three sulfur matches. The sulfur comes out of your pores and keeps almost any bug off you. Great for mosquitoes as well! I have been doing it for 30 years now and it works great.

Never had a problem with ticks but have had problems with chiggers bad. What I do in bad area's is duck tape my pants tight around my boots at ankles. Then soak pants from knees down with bug spray. That seemed to help a lot with the chiggers problem. The duct tape might help with the tick problem. Or tuck pants in side boots like military style.

That explains it all..8-)

I have/had lyme disease caught it at stage 2. You do not want it to go past stage 2 so you stop those blood sucking bastages anyway you can. Women's pantyhose are to be worn underneath your clothing. You can use under armor if you are unsure about yourself...However, washing your cloths with premethrin is a must! It kills ticks on contact and the clothes can be washed 20+ times without the stuff washing out. Being that I live 30 miles from Lyme CT where Lyme Disease was first discovered, I am doing what I have to.

Thanks for the tips mucky.

Finally winter's over now the bugs come out! Pffffft!!!!
Just can't leave us alone and let us have our fun!

I knew a couple of cavers that would wear pantyhose when caving. Claimed they kept them warmer.
I like the flea and tick collar idea. I've developed a terrible reaction to bug bites over the years. Ants especially. Once I was bit in a private place, ran to the house and for some reason grabbed the peroxide. The bite never bothered me. I know it's not a scientific study but I'll try it again. Hope I stumbled on to something.
