I found this item in my back yard and it was covered in rust. I wasn't sure what it was and it was way too rust covered to post picks and try to have someone guess at it so I read up on electrolysis cleaning. This was my first time and i figured this would be as good of a time as any to try it out. I put it in the electro bath for 2 days and hear are my results. It looks to be a cast for some sort of item. I wasn't able to find the other half if there eve is one. It looks to be iron or steel. Please throw me your best guesses and thanks for any reply's in advance

I think it is half of a oil bath for an equipment shaft.

I agree with the slide bolt idea, I pulled some similar ones out of a huse I'm working on, but I don't have a pic, and I can't find one online........

I'll look up some slide bolts and let everyone know what i find. I've been busy so i haven't had time to solve this one or my other post that is possibly a foot from an old transit tripod used to survey land.
