Today took the V3i out to one of the oldest and most hunted parks in town. Man any day I find an Indian Head penny is a great day. Today I found 3 in a very well hunted park. The first one was at 10" deep thats ". To me this is extremely good depth. Now my question is anyone hitting coins deeper? If so what are your settings. Also found the old plated tie bar at 10" and the Guardian Angel was only at 4". Thanks for looking.

Happy Hunting

Hi MackDog; If you set it in the Prospecting or Relic Modes you will hit dimes at 14 - 16" easily. I have popped quarters at almost 19". The VDI numbers are still very accurate in both modes. I prefer the Prospecting Mode because it gives a dual tone. That way if you pass over iron or trash you will hear a low tone but if a coin is present then you will hear a high tone mixed in with the low tone. It's the V3i's way of telling you there is a coin being masked by trash ok. The Relic MOde will only give a single tone ok. Great detector. You will NEVER need another one for as long as you live literally ok. Happy Hunting. PEACE:RONB

Awesome digs. Thats great depth. I have noticed that i find deeper coins in the early spring after the snow has melted and the ground has thawed and still moist.

Have you tried the Ultimate 13 coil? Another tip os to hunt the summer early

in the morning the dew and sprinkler systems make th ground moist also. As the day goes on the ground dries out and you get less depth.

Congratualtions on the very productive hunt! :occasion14:

Congrats on digging those 6 keepers. :occasion14: I like seeing Indians in the hole.

That's a gorgeous IHC. Congrats

Love them injuns

Those are some pretty Indians.
Very respectable depth that machine
is getting.
Congrats

I don't have the U13, I have the 4x6, 6x10, d2 and the 950.

Congrats on the great finds!! Your soil's very kind to Indians as those are in great shape!

It depends on the park, this one doesn't fertilize a lot

hi MackDog; why not dig deeper coins?? The rule of thumb is usually the deeper the find the older it is. Also just think of the sensitivity. If it will find a coin at 19" then you are absolutley sure "will" find coins at 14". It just stands to reason ok. I'll dig to China just to get my find GLADLY.!!!! Thing is that there is less of a chance at missing shallower type coins much more easily. Also coins from the 1600's are in fact found at the 19" depth depending on the area conditions they are in.Think about it ok. PEACE:RONB
