Vacation mode

A friend told me that if you are in vacation mode and don't ship in your time stated, you get a defect. Is that true? I got three sales this weekend and can't ship until Wednesday. My auctions all state one day, which means they need to ship Monday.

I thought with the latest eBay policy change what qualifies as a defect has completely changed?

New policy has been announced but isn't in effect yet. Not shipping in the time stated is not a defect. It will impact your % of items shipped within your stated handling. If that drops below 90%(??) you can lose top rated seller status. At least I think that's how it works. Had a long day of tailgating followed by a beer fueled movie marathon & my head isn't quite what it should be. When I go on vacation I set it to not sell anything. Some people bulk edit their handling time before they go.

Usually I do that, set it not to sell. I packed them up. Dh ran them to the p.o., but I will Bde offline until Tuesday night. If any sell tonight or tomorrow, oh well. I don't care any more!
P.s., what's the point of having vacation mode if it means nothing? Another dumb eBay gimmick

Mug I think you can set your items to hidden when on vacation mode. But I think this is flawed as well, as it can take days for this to go into effect.

I set mine as hidden when on vaca mode to avoid that. I know it states somewhere that the reason they allow 90% on time shipping for TRS is to account for vaca more than 'oops'...

I had two sell Sunday night, that didn't get shipped until this morning. There's nothing I can do about it. As you said, hiding it is not the best choice, since it was only a few days. Not sure what I'm going to do about the last of the Jewish holidays coming up. Next week is no big deal, one day. But the week after that and then the one after that ...

I had too many people still ordering when in vacation mode. So now I do the vacation mode and have all my auctions taken down. When you do come off vacation mode it will take a few hours for your auctions to reappear. I have never had any issues using this.

Well, guess what? I put the whole store in hidden vacation mode. I got a message from someone asking if I would take less for a bangle. I thought the prices didn't show in vacation mode? Anyhoo, I said yes, cuz I'm able to ship today. I fix the auction so she can buy it, so I thought. I got a best offer, and excepted. Weird, it was for a buck more than the lady had offered. I pull out the bangle and start getting ready to wrap it. At that point, I see it's someone different. When I get ready to print the packing slip, it's a different bangle! I did end up selling the other one to a short while later.
How did I get an OBO on full vacation mode?

I'm not 100% sure but I think that anyone that is watching your item can still see it when you are on vacation mode. Would probably need to dig through eBay policy to verify that.
