Vaquero compared to the Tejon

This has been answered many times here. A lot depends on the location for its performance too. They are two very different detectors and while some of the features overlap, they each excel at different types of hunting. What are you interested in doing?

Check out the field tests at this site http://losttreasure.com/fieldtests/ for more info on all detectors.

Need actual experiences between the Vaquero and the Tejon.
Anyone used both......

I've logged lots of hours with the Tejon but not the Vaquero. I'm posting mainly to let you know that on the Tesoro Forum these questions are addressed over and over again.

Recently on the Tesoro Forum James Gifford of Tesoro came out and plainly stated that the Vaquero is not as deep as the Tejon (I was surprised he did that). But, the word has gotten out by so many owners that I guess he decided to admit it in print.

The one thing you won't get him to admit (yet) is that some of the uMax machines can be deeper than the "hot" machines when fixed with the right coil and used on the right soil. But that story is a whole different "can of worms."

Write to the biggest Tesoro dealers and most will tell you to forget the Vaquero and go with the Tejon.

Basically what you'll hear is the Tejon is noisier than the Vaquero but this is because it's more sensitive and thus deeper.
