Very difficult to charge detector

I have a year-old Minelab Manticore, and for the last few months, it's been getting harder and harder - after connecting the magnetic power cable - to get the green charging light to appear. I now have to fiddle with the connection for several minutes before the green light appears and I know it's charging. There doesn't appear to be any corrosion on the cable ends, and someone suggested that I rub some silicone grease on them. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Try fine sand paper on both the detector and cable and check magnets for small pieces of metal.

ScotchBrite the connections on the control pod and coat them with silicone grease to help keep the corrosion at bay.

I had the same problem and discovered one of the pins on the charging cable was loose and it was able to work its way back into the plug not making a good connection. I replaced the charging cable and now have no issues.

Where did you get a replacement charging cable? Order it from Minelab, I imagine?

I would check with our supporting vendors first.

I'm going to buy a replacement charging cable and see what happens. My concern is what if I try the new one, and it still doesn't resolve the issue (meaning the problem in on the machine). Short of lightly and carefully scrubbing the magnetic terminal where the cable attaches, I wouldn't know what else to do.

Addendum: just ordered the replacement charging cable. $19.95 shipping charge for a three-ounce cable. *shakes head*

I really hope this solves my issue. I'm getting tired of wiggling/adjusting the cable for five minutes before a green charging light finally appears.
