We finally had a soaking rain after weeks of dry soil, so I hunted a farmyard dating to the late 1800's
Found this object , which was bent almost double. When I straightened it out, I was surprised by the elaborate design.
The object is two-piece, but the back is rusted away. It is fairly large at 7/8 inches in diameter.
If you can't see the details in the picture clearly, this is the design: in the middle is a shield, on which is a lion rampant facing to the viewer's left.
The shield is held up by two larger lions rampant, on each side.
Above the shield is a crown, below the shield is a motto which ends with the letters "viend"(and possibly "s"). The motto begins with letters which are not completely legible, but may be "eknu" or "ekhu" but I am not 100% sure on that.
The object is brass, and there are still some spots of gold color on it, which could be gilding or perhaps remnants of the original brass color
It's an interesting piece, and if anyone has any suggestions on what it is, please let me know

I went through Tice's and Alberts and nothing/??? Looks too good to be a blazer button... so?? Not sure... I have no resources for foreign buttons so maybe start looking in that direction?? I googled a little bit... British maybe??? or just a fancy blazer button...

Nice find..

I found the same button in my parents backyard earlier this year, it was down like 6-8 inches!!! They have one of the oldest houses in their town, built in the 1870's just outside of Chicago. As for the age, I have no idea. The back of mine rusted away long ago too. From what I remember, somebody posted that it was a Queen Victoria era emblem, but again I don't know.

Any info would be great!!! ;D

They are both sudo-military blazer buttons. Its a kinda fantasy British general service button.

Thanks for the help everybody.
I tend to agree that it is very likely a fancier than usual blazer button
