Detector(s) used
Nox 800 AT Max, Mine lab se pro/ Teknetics 7500 / teknetics 8000 / fisher m-scope (aquanut) 1280x/2ea compass relic magnum 6 /compass yukon 77b (professional) /compass yukon 71b
I decided to go to the hammered old high school area where old houses use to stand. Didn't find much at first but a lot of uncovered holes, that I covered, from some other mdist. Then I got a very good deep signal on my mine lab SE pro. The hole was at least a foot deep when I discovered the reading moved to the dirt beside the hole. It turned out to be a large dirt covered disc that I thought was probably another piece of junk like I found many a time in this area. But I felt the weight an saw the reeded edge (1880 S Morgan) and said " yes I probably just found the best find of the year for this year"! Then I found the piece of ster. ring with a turquoise stone and then a while later found a Gerber flik lying in the grass. The final find was the modern dollar coin. Thanks for looking!!! Best day detecting in a while!

Good for you. Thats awesome. Hope the luck continues. A good deed rewarded for fixing holes of someone elses crap.

That's sorry as all get out for people not filling in there holes.also sounded like they didn't know what they was doing by passing up that silver dollar like that.and that Gerber mutitool is a great tool to have around. Way to go buddy.nicely done.

Most metal detectorists will never find a silver dollar - they are a rare find indeed ! congratulations !

Congrats on the Morgan Dollar!!!

Thanks to all!

Guys not filling in there holes sucks. Guys leaving there gerbers laying around for the hole fillers is great... Great looking Morgan congrats!

Rare find! I've seen two dug, but only dug one in 20 years. Many never find one. Silver Dollars were so much money when lost, an so big and easy to see when lost, that they seldom stayed lost for long. GREAT find!

Don't those things feel a lot heavier when you dig them up, then just holding a store bought one?
I'll go to my grave remembering the first one I ever dug, years ago, but I can't tell you what I had for dinner two days ago.
Kudos!
Carl

Awsome morgan! great finds all around! HH

That's a great morgan.. Kudos to you for being the better person and doing the respectful and right thing.. To the victor go the spoils...

Great finds and good job on filling the holes. But, don't forget, not all uncovered holes were because of a md-ist. Animals DO come around and dig up loose plugs. Cut 'em deep and put 'em back tight! :)

HH!

Nice finds, congrats on the Morgan!

Awesome Morgan dollar. I will never find one

Great finds - always nice to find a morgan dollar - very nice to cover up this holes - I noticed one time I had covered all my dug holes real good only to come back the next day and most of them were uncovered - I think an armidillo or some varmit had uncovered them looking for grubs maybe. I'm glad I came back and recovered them.

Thanks to everyone for your interest!

I would have been happy with the gerber. nice finds and thanks for sharing.

Your find is a mid-20th-Century-to-present US Army Medical Corps collar-insignia. Having a letter on it means it is the Officer version. The letter A on yours designates the Administrative branch of the Medical Corps. (A letter D denotes Dental, a V is Veterinary, etc.)

great finds. that Morgan is super sweet. probably ranks as number 2 on my digging wish list, number 1 of course being a gold coin
