Been awhile since I posted, detecting and digging just isn't the same since I moved to Florida from Colorado.
Detecting is so so, but bottle digging is almost non-existent. Managed to find a total of 3 decent bottles at garage or estate sales.
These two were found at a garage sale less than amile from where I live.
The Detroit MI drinking cup is from Austria, turn of the century.
The flask however is a long older.
Kinda olive green flask, pontiled, very crude lip. Has a banjo player on one side, dancing man on the other side.
Seam up to the base of the neck.
Found a very close match stating
"Sailor - Banjo Player Pictorial Flask, Maryland Glass Works of John L. Chapman, Baltimore, Maryland, 1849-1860.
Brilliant yellow olive, sheared mouth - tubular pontil scar, half pint"
So far, no chips or cracks.
I was used to digging no earlier than the late 1870's bottles in Colorado, so this one took a little research.
Glad I did!
